The Worthington City Council meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 303 Ninth Street, Worthington, Minnesota.  You can access the agendas and minutes of these meetings by clicking here.

Honorary Council Member Program

The City of Worthington established its Honorary Council Member of the Month Program in March of 1992.  The benefits of such a program include:
  • An increase in the number of people familiar with local government operations
  • Honorary members may bring a new approach on city issues
  • The program helps to develop potential Council candidates

The Honorary Council Member shall serve for two months and act in the following capacity:

  • Attend regular City Council meetings, participate in discussion, but not allowed to make motions or vote
  • Attend as able, various advisory board and commission meetings
  • Attend a staff briefing and tour City facilities
  • Receive all correspondence that is directed to the City Council, including staff reports and Minnesota Cities publications
  • No monetary compensation
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and a resident voter of the city for at least thirty days prior to the appointment
