The City of Worthington established its
Honorary Council Member of the Month Program in March of 1992. The
benefits of such a program include:
- An increase in the number of people
familiar with local government operations
- Honorary members may bring a new
approach on city issues
- The program helps to develop potential
Council candidates
The Honorary Council Member shall serve for
two months and act in the following capacity:
- Attend regular City Council meetings,
participate in discussion, but not allowed to make motions or vote
- Attend as able, various advisory board
and commission meetings
- Attend a staff briefing and tour City
facilities
- Receive all correspondence that is
directed to the City Council, including staff reports and Minnesota
Cities publications
- No monetary compensation
- Must be at least 21 years of age and a
resident voter of the city for at least thirty days prior to the
appointment

office of the City Clerk at 303 Ninth Street, or by one of the following
