Narcotics Enforcement

The Worthington Police Department has three full-time Narcotics Investigators assigned to enforce all existing laws pertaining to the abuse, possession or sale of controlled substances, and to assist all other agencies whose similar investigations bring them into the city of Worthington and surrounding area.  It is the objective of the Worthington Police Department to enforce all local, state, and federal statutes which prohibit the possession, use, or sale of narcotics, non-prescription dangerous drugs, and other restricted or prohibited substances.  Through a combination of aggressive enforcement and public education, the department seeks to prevent and deter the use, possession, and sale of, all such substances within the city.  Cases are presented for charging to the Nobles County and/or United States Attorney's Office.  Much of the work done by the Narcotics Investigator is confidential.  However, some of the activities and results of work done since 1999 include:

  • Marijuana seizures with a combined street value of more than $100,000.

  • Cocaine seizures with a combined street value of more than $237,220.

  • Methamphetamine seizures with a combined street value of more than $1,008,540.

  • Numerous seizures of vehicles firearms, jewelry and large quantities of cash.

  • Investigations and arrests of numerous drug traffickers who received extended prison time including numerous individuals who were charged and sentenced to federal prison.

  • Assists to other agencies in the investigation and seizure of clandestine methamphetamine laboratories.

  • Numerous drug awareness presentations to public groups.
