Portions of the park property were obtained in 1981 and 1982, through the Housing Urban Development Program (CRUD) and from Gary L. & Terry A. Markman, Central Telephone Company, and Donavan Companies, Inc. An additional portion, being the fonner railroad right of way, was obtained from Hawkeye Land Company, in 1987, for $10.00.
