Police Reserves

The Worthington Police Department Reserve Unit is made up of volunteers from the community with an interest in law enforcement and a willingness to serve the community. The reserve unit was established in 2005. When fully staffed, the reserve unit has fifteen reserve officers. The unit is supervised by the night shift sergeant. Police Reserve candidates apply for the position and if accepted, receive training and orientation on police department policy and procedures. The reserve unit's primary function is to assist the department with tasks as directed by the supervisors and officers. These tasks often include security at local events, traffic control, and business security checks. The reserve unit is designed to support police department operations and not supplant to officers.
